The Centre

SHELTERED EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOPS are playing an integral part in the treatment program of the Centre.  It is imperative that the disabled adults be kept occupied in these workshops to avoid boredom and deviant behaviour.

KITCHEN

Some of our Residents are assisting with the Preparation of Food, etc. and are doing a wonderful job! To prepare food for approximately 300 people (three meals per days), is no small task.  The enormity of this task is exacerbated by the fact that the power supply in Randfontein can best be described as erratic.  We have had several power failures, and this made the preparation of food for approximately 300 people a very strenuous task. The only way that we could really effectively combat the erratic power supply, was through the purchasing of gas stoves, gas ovens, gas tilting pans etc.

THERAPY HOUSE

The emphasis here will be on basic numeracy, literacy, and hand-eye coordination.  Two teachers are managing this workshop, and our frail residents are benefiting from it.

NEEDLEWORK AND KNITTING

Some of our residents and day workers (male and female) are very adapt with needlework and knitting.

SELLING OF OUR QUALITY WOODWORK, CONCRETE

PRODUCTS ETC.

The residents and day-workers add great value to the public through manufacturing concrete bricks, beautiful wooden cabinets, a full range of concrete products, etc. It helps them with their self-development, as well as contributes to The Centre's Marketing and Fundraising efforts.
